    Patricia Gandy

    Patricia Marie Matthews Skeggs Gandy, 78, of Commerce, died Sunday, July 3, 2005. She was born in Crestview, Fla., and was the daughter of the late Sell and Laura Atkins Matthews. She was a retired lab technician from Gold Kist, a member of Homer Baptist Church, and an active member of the Banks County Senior Center. Mrs. Gandy was preceded in death by her first husband, the Rev. Paul F. Skeggs, Sr., and her second husband William Q. Gandy. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul Skeggs, Jr. and Michele Skeggs, Homer, and Hiram and Elizabeth Skeggs, Royston; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, July 4, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Webb officiating. Burial was in the Social Circle City Cemetery.     Dr. Ralph Edward Gandy, Jr.

    Dr. Ralph Edward Gandy died June 10, 2005 in Rockingham N.C.
    His father and mother were Ralph Edward Gandy, Sr. and Elene Durant Gandy of Darlington S.C. His grandfather was Walter Gandy and his great grandfather was Abel Gandy. He is a descendent of Brinkley Gandy.
    Mr Gandy was 78 at the time of his death. He was born December 16, 1926. He was a veterinarian in Rockingham and had been a city councilman for 42 years. He was in the city government longer than any other elected official in the city's history. In 2000 Dr. Gandy was Richmond County Citizen of the Year.

    of Cameron died April 26, 2005 in a Brownwood nursing home. Funeral services were held April 29 at Green-Patterson Funeral Home . Burial followed at Liberty Cemetery near Cameron. She was born March 17, 1902 in Milam County to Jesse and Fannie (Sutcliff) Nelson, and married James Dollar Gandy.

    SAMUEL A. GANDY

    FOLSOM BENNETTSVILLE — Funeral services for Samuel Alexander Gandy, 85, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Kiser Funeral Home of Cheraw with burial following in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.

    Mr. Gandy died Saturday, March 13. Born in Society Hill, he was a son of the late Robert Manuel and Sallie Vista Linton Gandy. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bennettsville. Mr. Gandy was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in World War II as a seaman first class. He received the American Area Camp Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He enjoyed woodworking.

    Surviving are his wife, Vera E. Smith of Bennettsville; sons, Samuel A. Chic Gandy Player and Wayne A. Gandy, both of Bennettsville, and James Deese of Tucson, Ariz.; daughters, Joyce McLendon of Bennettsville and Betty Boan of Cheraw; brothers, Brooks Edward Gandy of Darlington and Harvey Gandy of Society Hill; sisters, Catherine Hall and Myrtle Keith of Society Hill; 19 grandchildren and 17 great–grandchildren.

    Mr. Gandy was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Manuel Gandy Jr. and Charles Gandy.

    Edith Lurlene Gandy, 84, of Corsicana passed away Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at Heritage Oaks Retirement Village.

    Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.

    Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Griffin-Roughton Chapel with Ferman Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow at Campbell-Elrod Cemetery.

    Pallbearers will be John Jones, Jake Hasek, Chris Abbe, David Abbe, Tim Easley and Johnny Easley.

    Mrs. Gandy was born April 15, 1920, in Corsicana to Andrew Jackson Berryhill and Lillie Belle Adams Berryhill.

    She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Gandy; and her parents.

    Survivors include her daughters, Karen Jones of Ingleside and Vicki Hethcoat of Corpus Christi; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Flora Edwards of Corsicana; and a number of nieces and nephews.

    Mr. Gandy was born March 21, 1950 in Odessa. He was supervisor for Price Security.

    Mr. Gandy is survived by his mother, Edith Gandy of Corsicana; wife, Maxine Gorman Gandy of Corsicana; sons, Rene Gandy of El Paso, Lucky, Michael and Josh, all of Waco; sisters, Karen Jones of Ingelside, Texas and Vicki Hethcoat of Corpus Christi; and aunt, Flo Edwards of Corsicana.
